Store Manager (Back to top)

We are seeking results-oriented managers join our team as Store Manager(s) for our existing and upcoming retail locations in Manhattan.

The title of this position is Store Manager, reporting directly to General Manager of the Company. She/he is responsible for recruiting and building talent, driving results and managing operational excellence, building brand awareness and loyalty in order to deliver a consistent positive customer experiences and sales.

We are looking for individuals with an entrepreneurial mind set, a “go-getting” attitude and high energy level. Considering the growth plans of our company, this position could lead to higher level responsibilities in the near future.

Responsibilities

People

  • Hire and train key holders, brand ambassadors, full- time, part- time sales associates, demo specialist, cashiers, and stock person
  • Manage store schedule, time sheets and payroll budget
  • Turns in time cards by deadlines dictated by the payroll schedule
  • Share company benefits with staff and collect and store human resources documents including documents related to hiring and health insurance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations as well as internal standards and procedures
  • Conduct performance improvements discussions if necessary
  • In coordination with the Support Center team, create all memos for the retail team
  • Maintain the system for all employees of the retail team to read, acknowledge and understand memos
  • Oversee update of the Book of Operations
  • Ensure that all staff follows our dress code and procedures
  • Conduct daily staff meetings and weekly meeting with retail team
  • Conduct on-the-job coaching on sales techniques; encourage role-playing to sharpen selling skills
  • Induct and train new employees
  • Regularly track and evaluate performance of new employees
  • Oversee yearly retail staff evaluation
  • Ongoing training of our staff on product knowledge and launches

Sales and Service

  • Ensure that the highest customer service standards are being adhered at all times
  • Handle customer feedback and bring to resolution

Store Promotion and Operations

  • Understand details of upcoming events and promotion (in and out-of-store)
  • Lead the promotion of the store and its offering in the neighborhood by leveraging payroll budget and promotional tools
  • Coordinate and ensure proper execution of food tastings and demonstrations
  • Prepare staffing for in and out of store events in advance
  • Monitor the competition and share observations with Support Center staff
  • Attend weekly Trading Meeting and weekly Touch Base meeting
  • Ensure retail staff records feedback from customers in the CRM log
  • Create weekly, or as needed orders to maintain adequate merchandise quantity level of products and supplies for regular operating business and events while staying within the budget set by management
  • Ensure that products are received in good condition (i.e. temperature level)
  • Ensure that FIFO rules is applied at all time by all staff
  • In coordination with Support Center staff, oversee quarterly store inventory and proper reporting of results
  • Ensure that temperature check are carried out according to the set schedule
  • Take proper actions to promptly schedule service calls with outside vendor to avoid any down time
  • Maintain security procedures to prevent pilferage
  • Check on opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure that the highest hygiene standards are being adhered to for the entire location (selling floor, register, kitchen, bathroom, backroom and freezer)
  • Ensure that cost of tasting and demonstrations stays with-in the budget set by management
  • Review store P&L with General Manager on a monthly basis
  • Know the procedure for reconciling drawer and make daily deposit
  • Ensure petty cash expenses stays with-in budget set by management and create monthly expense report
  • Keep air/heat use to comfortable necessary level
  • Maintain and update “what if” procedures

Key Performance Indicators are: store sales, conversation rate, average transaction value, employee retention, gross margin, actual VS budget for payroll, product ordering, store expenses, store supplies, sampling/demonstration.

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years’ work experience in retail sales
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a sales team
  • Entrepreneurial mindset including adaptability, flexibility and being proactive
  • Must possess a passion for great food, customer service and selling
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Basic math skills are necessary
  • Computer literacy with POS as well as MS Office necessary

  • Communicate throughout the day with Manager(s) to insure efficient store operations
  • Report operational issues to Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager in an expedient manner.

Key Performance Indicators are: conversation rate, individual sales and average transaction value against goals, store sales and average transaction value against goals.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ work experience in retail sales
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a sales team
  • Entrepreneurial mindset including adaptability, flexibility and reactivity
  • Must possess a passion for great food, customer service and selling
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Basic math skills are necessary
  • Computer literacy with POS necessary. Knowledge of MS Office a plus
